Hilton Financial District, Boston MA - December 29

Arrived early (around 2 pm) and was helped by Jade at the front desk, she was brilliant as it was busy and the phones were ringing off the hook, but she took time to ensure I was satisfied and fixed my reservation (I had pre-paid for one night, and used points for the second). She also got me a room early.

In room 427 which is a VERY NICE suite and located in one of the corners - so it is VERY quiet. Nice size room when you walk in with a hide-a-bed, old style tv, table with 2 chairs, and a sink (or "wet bar"). Spacious bathroom located through a door that can be closed and then the master bed room. This is a great room, flat screen tv, quiet and dark in the morning.

We had several adults and kids in the room for New Years eve, and we could not hear the room next to us, or anywhere else in the hotel.

Only minor beef was the lobby bar's drinks seemed to be noticeably higher, and I got whacked $30 for a roll away (and it was small and on its last legs).

We always love having breakfast in the lobby restaurant, but I will write a separate review on that.

They were GREAT in allowing us to have a 2:30 pm check out for our 4 pm flight.

BEST thing about this property is the PEOPLE....everyone is helpful and goes out of their way to make sure you are happy...everyone from the maids, to front desk, and especially the guys who work the door.

Can't ever beat the location and the service is first rate!!

Headed over at 1 pm for a late lunch, great crowd in the place...and I was quite surprised at the number of women eating lunch here by themselves (usually only there as part of a mixed group).

Great service from Katy, always quick with a drink refill, and decent food. Took longer than I am used to, and it was not quite as good, or as warm. Actually a bit disappointed with the quality of the food......

Stopped in at 4:30 to grab a bite to eat and a few beers with my parents and sister....Scott and Allison ended up joining us at a decent round table. They had a pretty good crowd for a holiday Monday evening, and as time went on lots of Bear fans (they beat the Vikings on Monday night) stopped in for food and beers.

Our waitress was Faviola and she was GREAT. Friendly, fast and efficient. The atmosphere in the place is always fun and relaxed, and it is a little bit better in the summer when you can sit outside on the patio.

We had great apps, and excellent entrees. Skins were a bit marginal (greasy and small) but the wings smelled GREAT. Beers were cold and always refreshed, and I had an AWESOME burger for dinner. My mom had the fish and chips and I didn't think it was that good, but my dad enjoyed the hot dog. Fries were great. Scott headed up to the complimentary beef/pork table (just tip the carver) at the front of the place and really liked the mini sandwiches.

Fun spot to grab a bite and catch the train home! Strangest bill I have ever seen with the odd food pricing....

Awesome spot to have dinner at Christmas - the decorations are "best in Chicago" quality, and the place is very festive! I love the sharp cheddar cheese spread (and crackers) that is on the bar as you usually spend plenty of time waiting for a table (at least in the "old" days).

We arrived at 6 pm on a rainy/snowy night. I was really surprised to walk in and be seat right away, and that there open tables. I remember always waiting to eat here, but they also said they were closing at 8 pm that night.

John O was our waiter and he was very friendly and good. The only thing I did not like was they told us we could only order pizzas and 1 entree due to the size of our party - 8 adults and 3 kids. I have NEVER heard of a rule like that, and even if they had one, it didn't make sense for a night when there were only a few tables.

I didn't care in the least because I love the pizza, although I remember the ribs being excellent too (but I was not allowed to order them). So we had some excellent apps first - chicken fingers were excellent, skins too greasy, bratwurst soup awful. Also some cold beers and about a 30 minute wait for our deep dish pie.

Pizza was awesome, and there is so much that we had plenty to bring home. Also a great value for all we had.

This place is all about a great atmosphere, a few drinks, and solid food. They added a bar upstairs with games since I was last in the place. It is a classic, and I look forward to returning!

Headed over for dinner on a Thursday night around 6:30 pm. They had a good crowd in the restaurant and several people in the bar area. We grabbed two seats at the bar, and Katie had dinner while I had a few beers and some apps. Neil, our FAVORITE bartender, was working and took great care of us.

I love sitting in the bar, two large screen tvs behind the bar, good cocktails and cold beer (what else does a man need?). Its comfortable, and the redecoration of the joint looks great!

The tomato soup is FABULOUS, and Katie loved the mussels, salad, and especially the cobbler for dessert.

This is a new restaurant (in the spot of the "old" Capri), located at Calamos City Gate complex at I88 and Bilter Rd. The interior has not changed from Capri, and when we arrived just after 6 pm on a Saturday night the place was a GHOST TOWN. There was one couple in the dining room and no one in the bar...where we ordered a drink and waited for the rest of our neighbors.

Everyone else arrived within the half hour, and we had a good time having a few holiday cocktails. Bartender was friendly and a lot of fun.

We were seated at our table and there was still only the one other table in the dining room. Our waiter was excellent, great advice and always anticipating our next need (but he should have been with only one table). We were a large group with 6 couples in attendance.

I had their "seafood special" and HATED IT. It was HORRIBLE. YUCK!!!!!!!! It was overcooked salmon with some kind of heavy read sauce....it would have been better if it was the salmon alone...and I ended up scrapping off the sauce.

Katie had the zupa de pesce, and she did not like it all....too bland and not enough seafood.

However, we did end up back in the bar area and had a good time. The bartender was great!

The group consensus was food that ranged from ok to horrible, but it was at a very reasonable price.

I guess the background is that the family who own the place had another spot in St. Charles that was very popular.........but they wont survive until the spring with food like that!

Lots of food
Lots of beer and wine
Some desserts

We take customer complaints like this very seriously and like to use them as much as possible to solve any problems we may be having in the stores. For that reason, the Regional Manager of the River North location would like to talk to you about your experience. If you are comfortable, please message me with your email address or phone number, whichever you would prefer, and I will have her contact you personally.Again, I apologize for your experience and appreciate you bringing it to our attention!

The pizza was EXCELLENT, but everything else was pretty BRUTAL.

I ordered via the phone for a meeting we were having at the office. First of all, you have to be prepared to be on hold for 5 minutes, then the person who took my order was WAY off on her recommendation for how much pizza we needed to order....we did not have nearly enough.

Then there was the deliver issue...first time driver was at our office and didn't know where to park or how to get pizza's to us. When he finally made it he was great, but about 20 minutes after the delivery had been promised, and you know how a group of hungry people who have been in a meeting all day can be.......

Pizza was still hot, and it is awesome. Lower rating is due to all the other hassles....

We arrived about 11:10 am and were invited by the friendly bar tender to have a seat at the bar until they began to serve lunch at 11:30. We did and he kept our drinks full until they opened, when he took our order and delivered a great meal.

I had the cheeseburger, as did Rob, and we really enjoyed them. Cooked to perfection, excellent fries, and the great service from the bartender.

When we left just after noon there were several tables, and a few more people at the bar. I would like to come back for dinner.

Newly remodeled, 10,000 X nicer than my visit last fall. The place looks great, and the lobby bar was rocking when I returned. I was in room 2829, and it was GREAT - nice and quiet with a great bathroom.

Only complaints are they DON'T have a Regency Club and there is no VIP treatment for Diamond---I am so spoiled but will stay at properties that treat me right. I left a message for the GM on his voicemail with my compliments on the renovation and he must still be too busy to return my call.

Valet parking was a bit expensive at 27.06, but I prepaid the room and got a nice deal at $167.20.

Took 4 customers to dinner on a very rainy Houston night to this excellent Mexican place. It was pouring when we arrived, but it looked like they had great area for kids to play in while the parents had a drink and waited for a table....it was completely fenced in and had playground equipment and a sand box with trucks!

We waited in the bar and had some great margs and chips and salsa....once everyone arrived we were seated at a long table. The place is pretty small and the tables are close so the conversation is easy. Our customers insisted on the beef fajitas and they were EXCEPTIONAL---best I have ever had.

Juan was our server and the service was pretty slow for the minimal crowd in the place. I even gave him my credit card when I wanted the check and it took at least 15 minutes for him to return with the bill.

But the food is GREAT and the atmosphere is excellent.

Chicago Thanksgiving Parade - November 26

Rating - 10.00 +++++++++

It starts early (8:30 am) and people with chairs are out around 7:30 to get a spot....and it was cold and rainy this year. But that did not keep the crowds away....it was probably 6 deep when we went down around 9:15 am. The little guys did manage to squirm their way to the front by the curb, while I stayed back on the sidewalk. As time went on the crowd really began to lighten up...which was too bad because the last band before Santa was the Bruin Pride Bank (from SMSU).

Parade was great and the kids always love it.....it is the 8th year in a row we have attended.

This place is exceptional, a true Chicago landmark, I had not been in the property for two year - or since the renovation was completed. It has been restored to one of the finest properties in the entire world.

The outside remains the same, but when you get into the lobby it is fantastic. Especially when decorated for Christmas. We are using the family picture shot in front of the tree for our card this year, and it was almost non-stop picture taking from everyone who walked by the tree.

After we checked in (more on that in a minute) we had to go have a drink in the lobby. The bar is cozy and is in/out of the restaurant, and there are plenty of tables and chairs to sit in the lobby itself. It was awesome just to take in the view and enjoy a drink....we almost stayed for another but had to head out for dinner.

With the location of the property (State Street in the theatre district/a block from Millennium Park) this is a MUST STAY while in Chicago.

As for the room, the general manager Dean Lane really took care of my family. He put us in the best room I have ever stayed in (The Daley Suite) right on the parade route/State Street, and had a bottle of wine and cookies and milk for the kids in the room. Nicest gesture of the year based on all the nights I have spent in hotel rooms this year. Even without this special treatment I would stay here every time downtown!!!!!

Even the night before Thanksgiving they had a big crowd in at dinner time. We arrived a bit later than we wanted to (but really enjoyed a drink at the Palmer House) and were told the wait was 45 minutes for a party of 5. We headed into to check on the bar and there were 2 seats available. I put the little guy in one, but the bartender told us kids could not sit at the bar alone. So I sat and put him on my lap. Joel M was an awesome bar tender and was always quick to fill a drink or keep the kids happy. We ordered the cheese stix and little guys were happy.

Excellent. Exceptional. The BEST.

This is my favorite place to take clients, or a group of business associates. Located a block away from Grand Central Station. Make sure you make a reservation even on a Tuesday night.

We arrived around 8 pm and the place was packed. We had a few drinks in (the VERY SMALL) bar while we waited for our table. Although the bar was extremely crowded, the service is fantastic.

Once seated our waiter was Arben...usually we ask for Arty but he was serving a private party upstairs. His service was impeccable throughout the night!

We all started with the sizzling bacon slice....this is a slice of heaven.....that you MUST have. Next were the wedge salads followed by Steak for 6. It is served on plates that come out of the oven and are basically huge T Bones that have been pre-cut. It is also the BEST STEAK ON EARTH.

The sides are all great, I love the creamed spinach, and the deserts are grand. In addition the wine list is excellent and reasonably priced.

We also enjoyed a round of Jamo shots on the house.....which is always appreciated....and has seemingly disappeared from the bar/restaurant scene.

My only beef is how far away from the central business district (in KC proper) it is....its goofy getting out of downtown on a one lane (in each direction) bridge....and I was in a hurry.

Rental car facility is off property and you have to take a bus which always sucks, but the terminals are laid out in a great fashion. Each one is its own "pod" with parking in the middle. It would be excellent to live near it and travel....also due to the layout the gates share security...no lines and right to the departure gate. Also like the bar in the gate area.....

Pulled up around 4 pm and the place was empty.....more like deserted. The lobby is very nice and features a nice water fall as a back drop.....the girl who checked me in was friendly and said bidness was SLOW.

I used one of my "diamond" upgrades to check out their suites, room 2522, and it was OLD. Do not pay for a suite if you stay here. Decor was very dated but it was decent size, although the coach had been there a long time and I was afraid to lay on it. Desk was awful for anyone who wanted to work at it, and wireless internet connect was horrible.

I had their room service chicken sandwich (and fries) for dinner and it was pretty decent. Kind of hard to believe the wait was 30 minutes....

I also had breakfast at their restaurant and there were a few more people around. It was a buffet, nothing special but pretty decent.

I guess a lot of activities still happen at Crown Center in Kansas City, and I would only stay at the property for a special event. Not for bidness travel.

After arriving it is a pain to get the rent a car because they are located off site, and you have cross a few lanes of traffic to get to the bus pick-up. Every time I have flown in there have been long lines for the bus. Ride is about 10 minutes and if you don't get GPS you have to drive past terminals to return -- complete pain in the a**.

It is also very confusing to get picked up due to door on each side of baggage claim.

On the return (outbound trip) security can be a pain when flying AA. They are in an old terminal (no Admirals Club) and there is no "premiere" line. After cleaning security there is only 1 sandwich shop and 1 crappy little bar.

The gates themselves are old and run down.

I do remember the SWA gates being nicer........

Arrived 1/2 hour before our tee time and the guys working bag drop and the club house were GREAT. They were able to re spike my shoes (a bit pricey at $20) before the round while we warmed-up on the excellent range.

Played from the silver tees at 6400 yards and it was a bit challenging, shot 86, but very playable.

Not a tradition desert course because there must be at least a million homes surrounding the course...and it doesn't feel like you are out in the desert, and limits the views of the mountains.

But it is spectacularly maintained, tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in GREAT SHAPE. Only down side is that it is a bit unimaginative with not much variety through the holes.

I will say the pro shop is very nice, dogs at the turn were EXCEPTIONAL, and it was a lovely experience.

A bit of a drive back to the airport (45 minutes), but I would return to play when back in the Valley.

This place SUCKS.....joke is on you if you stay here. Only reason we did is because we hosted a customer seminar here the next morning. However, if you like staying in your great-great-great-great grandmothers old time shack you would enjoy it.

We arrived late (around 9 pm) and the valet guys were pretty good. I don't know if you can self park the car anywhere close. Valet asked my name and spoke into his headset, but after I walked the ten feet to the front desk the clerk had no clue who I was or what I was doing there (basically no clue at all). She couldn't tell me where our event would be (I like to check out the room the night before) or if anything had arrived for us (we shipped some things).

I headed up to the room and it reeked of fresh paint. I was going to call down, but decided I would stop on my way to the fitness center. The itself was AWFUL - could have really used a good cleaning and some new wall paper.....it just looked old and beat-up. Don't ever get suckered into staying in room 827.

Headed down to front desk and asked if the room was just painted, answer was "I don't think so", and instead of asking if they put me in a new room that was it. Service = Horrible.

The "newly remodeled" fitness center was weak -- very, very small, limited free weights, tread mills/ellipticals, and old weight machines. It would be a disaster if they had a house full of people who wanted to work out. Might be a nice spot if you were over 100 years old!

Headed back up to the room and was unimpressed with the shower and bathroom. I would say it was on par with a Super 8.

Although breakfast was included in our package, I headed down early to our event. I will say the food for that was great, service was top notch and the coffee cake was so unbelievably good...I also liked the free shoe shine.

No way would I ever stay at this location or any Ritz for that matter.

What a great airport to fly out of. First it is located about 10 minutes from Newport Beach, lots of gas stations along the way to fill the car, easy to get into and easy to return car. Short lines at security, lovely terminals - wide, clean bathrooms, and lots of restaurant choices.

Really weird to fly out of....they cut the engines after a near vertical lift-off for noise reduction....

Only wish I lived here!

Beautiful property, resort like, with a great 9 hole (Par 3) golf course.

We arrived around 5 pm and headed over to play a quick 9 but it was getting too dark and we only finished 5 holes....but the guy running it was totally cool and let us play for free.

Felt like I was treated just like any other "joe" who stayed there.....even though I am a Hyatt Diamond member....its is kind of strange: sometimes I get a great room/others times it sucks. This time it was just "ok".....room 814.

I am kind of upset because I left my heart rate strap in the room over the tv (to dry) and after check out I realized I had forgotten it. I left a vm, and got a call the next day saying it had not been found........didn't realize there was a black market for them (well they are $40).

So, we headed out to dinner and the valet guys/bellmen are always great, very friendly, and good with places to go/directions.

I would love to take the family here because they do have shuffle board game, ping pong tables and pools all over. Plus the grounds are beautiful and you can get to any point in Newport Beach easily.....its just the lack of recognition for being a valued dedicated "Hyatt Guy" that bugs me.

Love these places almost anywhere I go....great spot for a client lunch. This is located in Fashion Island, and we were immediately seated when we arrived around noon. Outstanding service from Alison who was quick with drinks and food.

Menu is mainly bar food, but they do have a nice selection of priced fixed lunches. Lots of tvs with all the sporting channel on, and an interesting crowd of suits from Pimco and Pac Life, and ladies out shopping.

I had the roast beef dip and it is excellent, Paul had the chicken Caesar which he enjoyed and our guest had the Ahi Crunchy (he loved it).

Everyone who works in the place is fast, friendly and efficient. I would return any time I am back!

Arrived at 8 am for a "quick" breakfast before a 9 am meeting and waited a few minutes to get seated. Jamie D who was our waiter was very, very busy -- they must have been understaffed because we waited for everything - for drinks, to order, get our breakfasts and the check. And, I felt sorry for him because everyone was mad.

The food itself was marginal at best. There was a lot, but it was not that good....except for the excellent french toast.

The crowd is always amusing to me because they are located right next to Fashion Island - its a mix of retirees, students, guys in suits and regular people having a meal.

Excellent place to grab dinner in Newport on a Tuesday night. We arrived early (around 6 pm) and got a seat outside next to the fire pit. It was a bit chilly, but between the fire pit and the heater it was very comfortable.

Kim provided the BEST service, great recommendations, and good company. The Oysters for an app were huge (too big for my taste), but the beer (Pyramid) and wine (BT Neal family) were great, and my Salmon was exceptional (I think Paul really liked the crab cakes). What a great dining experience........

Headed into the bar for 1 more before we left and it is definitely a COUGAR DEN....yikes had to head in early.

We had a business lunch and hosted a person we interviewed. This is a great place for a business lunch and the service (Jay was our waiter) is always top notch---as is the food. There is always a good crowd and I like it for a business lunch because its loud enough to not hear the conversation at the next table, but no so loud as have to shout. Everyone is a professional here.

Unfortunately I had a "near death" experience on this particular day, a piece of cheese burger (which was excellent) got stuck in my throat....I left the table in hopes I could get it out in the trash, but was having problems swallowing....so someone on the staff gave me the Heimlich---didn't work the first time so he did it again and I could breath....makes me sick writing this!!!

It turned the GM, David Flom, was the one who came to my rescue. What a great guy he was after the fact, helped me to the stairs so I get to the bathroom, never made a big deal out of it, and actually apologized when I returned back down. He also sent over two complimentary deserts - which was way above the call of duty when he saved my a**.

I headed over for a brief case because I really like my brother in laws and was "helped" by Lourdes. She was efficient, but not really interested, and must not have felt like talking to me or my buddy. It was all bidness.....guess it can be when they are located there.

Can't wait to get the bag, and I would recommend you shop via the web for any of their merchandise.

Headed to main (lower level) around 5:15 pm on a Monday evening while walking back to the office and found one of the few open tables. Crowd is all guys in suits (lawyers I would guess) and a few couples on dates (I guess). It is all OLD SCHOOL....from red decor to wait staff.

First thing they do is have you check your coat, and they direct you to the seating area. There is also a really old school stand up bar that became crowded as time went on. They hosted at least one private party this night (coat check asked if we were there for one).

We waited a bit to place a drink order with Michael, each ordered a drink. Service was fairly quick, although they won't win any awards for speed. Atmosphere is formal (all men had their suit coats on) and all were soft spoken. It was very mellow, and I would guess we were the youngest in there by 10 years....either lawyers with clients or low-key deal making.

The dining area would be also best described as "old school" and I like the waiters in tuxs.....have to come back here for dinner sometime. By the time we left at $6 there was a wait for tables in the bar area (and everyone was post 60 years old).

When I got home and opened them they were GREAT, perfect temperature, and no problems on the drive home.

Love this place for pick-up or to eat in.

This is the annual circus in Chicago at the United Center at 11:30 on Saturday after Thanksgiving.....we arrived around 11 am (parked in the lot for $10) and were too late to go on the floor with the circus performers. I headed right to the concession stand because I had the "meal deal" included with the tickets.

I bought 2 $7 pop corns first and figured I was in for an expensive day, then got in line at the concession stand. When I got to the front they said the "meal deal" vouchers were good only at the line in the next stand, but I bought a $4 pretzel, and headed over to the other line.

It moved SLOW, and it probably took me 20 minutes to reach the front.....it was so slow because the girls in the stand were filling all soft drinks to the top (don't they have a machine for that??).....but the "meal deal" did include a dog and drink. There were a bunch of people in line who had picked up their tickets at the box office and received only 1 "meal deal" voucher...they needed one for each person and were pissed (I got my tickets in the mail).....I did miss the start of the show while I was in line....

Once I got in the kids were completely engrossed with the show....it was EXCELLENT and we all enjoyed it. About an hour in they had a 15-20 minute break (the line at the women's room was LONG) and I took the little guy out to the bathroom and had to drag him back in because he wanted to buy all the spinning/light things.....starting at $20........

The show went for another 45 minutes or so and was just as good in the second half. The arena was maybe 40% full and it was easy to get out of the UC and very easy to exit the parking lot.

We sat in Section 113, row 15, seats 1-5.

Everyone agreed it was the BEST show ever and the little guys only missed the motorcycles in the cage.

Well done..............

We arrived around 6:45 and it was very quiet the night after Thanksgiving.....we sat in the bar and it was very cozy and warm for the six of us......we started with the Calamari Capri (very tasty and spicy), followed by salads and soup (just ok), and then the entrees.

I had my favorite (chicken parm) and it was great as always, everyone else also LOVED theirs (homemade rigatoni with Mamma's vodka sauce, veal, some other pasta). For dessert we had a few cannolis, tiramisu, and Chocolate Martinis...........

Hyatt at Pittsburgh Airport, Pittsburgh PA - October 20

Rating - 7.8

First impressions (mean a lot to me) - Ruby was very friendly at check in, flat screen tvs in the room and its QUIET in the room.....HOWEVER on the negative side there were no king beds, no Regency Club, no cups in the bathroom (second trip in a row), no digital thermostat in the room (old school one from the 1960s), goofy parking situation and a crappy work service dominated by a small fridge with no power outlets for my pc.

It is strange to park here, although well marked, because you have to enter the long term parking lot and head to the hotel parking sign. I guess I will have to pay for it when I leave tomorrow (it was $11), but I don't know and there was nothing on the web site about it. It is also a bit confusing because you enter the property by an "entrance" sign, but really you are in the back by the meeting rooms. It is not well marked, and very awkward, to get to the front desk.

I arrived just after 5 pm and there was a line of 3 in front of me, but it moved quick because there were three people working the desk. Ruby checked me in and she was GREAT, but I was a bit ticked when told I had two doubles instead of a king bed....I just asked to be in the most quiet room they had. I was told it was, and I am in room 1127. I am surprised by how quiet it has been to this point (no plane noise at all, although I can hear hallway noise under the door).

The work space is AWFUL: there is a Haier fridge on top of the desk (don't understand why it is not under it) that takes up 1/4 of the desk. Most people I know work at night at the desk in the room. In addition there is NO power outlet to plug in my computer. I tried calling the "guest request" line and there was no answer, same outcome dialing "0", I finally got through to the front desk and the girl who answered was nice, but told me the outlets were in the corner by the window, by the clock on the nightstand and behind the dresser the tv sits on......all in a matter of fact way...when I said my power strip wouldn't reach she said there was nothing else she could do for that, but could she help me in any other way.....

I hung up and tried to move the dresser (no go), so I was getting ready to call the GMs office and dialed "0" again. This time I got John, he was friendly so I explained the issue again, and he immediately offered to send an extension cord up...why the first girl could not I don't get at all...the engineering department came right up, plugged it in, and let in less than a minute. Great service.

Went to the gym around 8:30 and its decent. 4 tread mills, 3 ellipticals, 4 bikes, few weight machines and dumbbells up to 50 lbs. Don't come here looking for a good lifting session. In addition, the controls on each of the ellipticals were broken......kinds of sucks.....

Headed down for breakfast and it was EXCELLENT!!! Great service from the host, excellent service from Allisa my waitress, and the food was really good. I had the buffet and selection was wide and varied, and there were only a few people having breakfast at 9 am. Very good, and and I would return for sure.

Overall, I liked the property, but am having issues getting past a few of the things that bothered me. There are many different choices just off the property, but it was easy for having 5 people fly in and join me for the ride downtown.

The drive from Western Suburbs to Midway SUCKS........and so does parking at Midway.......I parked in the attached $28 a day lot....and as I look my ticket a guy handed me a blue flier saying the lot was full and to go to long term. As anyone knows that is a total pain to go over there, par, and take the shuttle. Anyway I found a spot......

Going through security at 10:30 am was a breeze, and I went right to the gate. Wouldn't you know that I was on the only delayed fight that SWA ever had???? About 15 min late, lined up in my group and boarded, HATE this process.

Outstanding pumpkin patch and farm!!!!!!!!!!!! We had such a GREAT day........arrived around 1 pm and went right inside to buy their World Famous donuts and taffy apples....had to have something to snack on. This is a family tradition, and while development has been creeping in all around the farm, they still have enough land to feel like you are in the country. And everyone who works here is very friendly and will go out of their way to help. Parking is in their paved lot and in the grass fields. There were a lot of people there but it never felt crowded.

I headed to the ticket booth and unloaded some dough....$5 for each of us to get into the corn maze, petting zoo, kids stuff.......and 20 tickets for rides (only $15).

The kids LOVED the corn maze, and the little guy loved the train, animals, hay pile, but most of all the huge pile of corn that all the little ones could play in. We probably spent 2 hours there...

Then we went to the ride are and rode the pumpkin train (lots of fun and worth the 20 minute wait), pumpkin jumpy/bouncy, and train slide/fun house, and Kara had her face painted.

Then it was finally time to pick some pumpkins......and the display was HUGE.....every size and shape. You could ride the hay ride into the field, but there were more than enough on display....and they were pretty cheap at $3.99, $5.00 and $7.99 (although I don't know how much pumpkins cost elsewhere).

Then I made the mistake of going inside to pay......they have all kinds of neat Halloween "stuff' and we bought some candle holders and other nicknack's........

A great day of family fun!!!! If you have little guys this is a great place to spend a few hours.

Excellent dinner experience. We arrived around 6:45 pm and the place was PACKED with Yorkville high school students......it was prom night. So we happily headed to the bar....love the bar with the flat screen tv and excellent service......

Bar was pretty crowded with all the adults waiting for tables....but the bar tender is excellent and had drinks in front of us right away.....then papa brought some bruschetta in (it was GREAT). We waited about 45 minutes and then were seated......same table as last week.....

The place was packed when all the adults were seated....but service was good (better than last week)....although the waiter forgot to put in one of the orders and the entire tables dinner was delayed by 20 minutes....but Andy made up for it with a bottle of wine on the house.....

Food was spectacular! I once again had the chicken parm, 2 others had the lobster diablo (they LOVED it...I think Mike licked the plate) and Allison had the salmon special (it was great, I almost always get it)......I also had the tortilla soup (fantastic)......and we finished with chocolate cake and cannoli (exceptional).

We then headed to the bar for a "night cap" that I didn't need....and to listen to "Gigolo Johnny" who was AWESOME......just a lounge lizard who was funny and worked the crowd. A great night!

Harding Park Golf Course, San Francisco CA, October 15

We played the course the Thursday after the Presidents Cup and arrived around 7 am. It was busy in the club house and they had a sign posted that you had to check in 1/2 hour prior to tee time.....what a great concept. There were a bunch of guys there who were trying to get out and were on the waiting list, we had made our tee time a week prior with no problem. It was pitch black at 7, but they told the first group to head to the tee. Only problem was the grill didnt open until 8 am, and our tee time was 7:50.

There had been a terrible rain storm on Tuesday, and they told us they had lost a bunch of trees and there was debris on the course....it was true, but the course was in GREAT shape.....except for the long wet rough that I was in all day.

It was a strange day, sun, mist/rain, clouds........and very damp. Being off the fairway was brutal and my score showed it (92). I would give one piece of advice, I am a 12.2 handicap and I played the blues at 6500 yards and slope of 125---it plays much longer and much tougher!! It was really cool to get to play with all of the bleachers and corporate tents still in place!

As for the course itself it is solid, a very good muni track. On the front side there are 3 holes that run side by side like a traditional muni course, and balls were all over the fairways, but it was in great shape. 17 and 18 are great finishing holes.

Best part of all was the pace of play.....we walked and finished in just under 4 hours!!!! Never felt rushed and only waited a few times for the groups in front of us.

Oh, and the course hot dog at the turn was SPECTACULAR......a great roll and huge dog.....

At the price point however I would be tempted to play Presido instead.......

We had a GREAT waitress who got us a couple of beers. She was friendly but gave us our space.

Its a historic old place, that in 1952 became the inventor of Irish Coffee-----I am not a coffee drinker but most people in the place were. Its right by the end of a cable car line and the Ghirardelli Chocolate factory. Neat spot to have one and move on.

Small place and your order at the counter when you walk in, get a number, find a seat and they deliver lunch. We sat outside on the sidewalk and lunch was promptly delivered.

IT WAS EXCELLENT.......all three of us really enjoyed our meals......exceeded my expectations by a long shot. We sat and talked for 1 1/2 hours and never felt rushed, staff did a great job of clearing the table, and it was very comfortable.

I would return here in a second and would have the salmon again for SURE....it was large, perfectly cooked with excellent flavor. So big I couldn't finish it all.....

Tadish Grill, San Francisco CA - October 13

Rating - 10.00

We had a customer to take out for drinks after work and headed to the hotel bar across the street from Wells Fargo, but there were no seats at the bar or tables. So we headed out for a walk.....I am always "up" for trying a new spot to have a beer.

We wandered into the Tadish and found 3 seats at the bar around 5:30 pm. This is a classic spot, been there since the 1850s and I don't think much has changed. At part of the long circular bar you can eat and drink, and at our spots you could drink.

Excellent bartender, friendly, good drinks, and good conversation....but not too overbearing. Easy for the three of us to chat, and we all had a cup of soup. I had the Clam Chowder and it was EXCEPTIONAL -- so good I wanted another.

We stayed for about an hour, and after several cocktails and the soups the check was under $100 (hard to believe I didn't have to pay).

We did ask if we could have dinner where we sat, and the answer was only for apps, and the wait was 20 minutes (they don't take reservations).......so we headed out to find another spot....

Whole Foods, San Mateo CA - October 13

Rating - 8.6

Ran in here for a quick bit to eat before a 1 pm meeting, and it was packed with people. I had never been in a Whole Foods and got lost pretty quick, but a very helpful person who was stocking shelves walked me to the power bars. I picked out a couple, got a few drinks (couldn't find the Diet Coke----got some "natural" lemonade) and headed to the registers......they were packed and the line was long.

I walked around to see if there were any others, couldn't find any, and headed back to the front. They did have some decent looking pizza, but I had no time. The kid who helped me find the power bars rang me up, and when I told him one of them was so bad I couldn't finish it, he said I didn't have to pay.....what GREAT SERVICE. I don't shop very often, but I did think the place was expensive......

Just walking from the financial district back to the wharf and found this cool little spot for dinner. Arrived around 7:30 pm and seated at a 4 person table away from the window (there was a 2 person spot there). Probably 10 tables in that room, and 4 in the other....

Neat spot, very quaint, with decent service and decent food. We had a great bottle of wine, the bread they served was not warm and just ok, salad looked ok (Pete destroyed it) and for main course I had the "special" sea bass --- marginal at best, WAY TOO MANY bones for me, but Pete had some special pasta that he loved.

Cool spot in the "North Beach" neighborhood with the "Hustler" strip club......I would return but not eat the sea bass.

fish special (nasty sea bass)

Hyatt Fishermans Warf, San Francisco CA - Oct 13

Rating - -1000000000000000000000 (that's right its negative) -- subject to revision after check out

Horrible experience with the front desk at check-in........I feel like a piece of GARBAGE......on my Hyatt profile I have "quiet room that is high"......and I always ask the front desk if it is a quiet room. I had really enjoyed the room I had the last time at this property, and I asked if it was available.....they asked if I knew when I stayed or the room number. I did not, but thought it was strange they couldn't pull it up. The lady who helped me was friendly and said if I didn't like the room I could call down and change it.

When I got up to room 422 it was nice and on a corner. Unfortunately the corner of a busy street. I immediately knew it would be too loud for me, and I called right down to the desk to ask for another room. The person who answered was a bit hard to understand, but said she would find a room on the inside for me. She offered to have a bellman bring the new key up, but I said I would headed back down. The person who had checked me in was busy, and so the girl on the left gave me the new key and said it was a handicapped room and they were all out of king beds. I said no problem as long as it was quiet.

I got to room 452 and it was not updated like the first room, and on an interior corner of the property. This usually means its loud at night as others head to their rooms. I unpacked and headed down to meet my buddy for a beer, I also had to return the original room key (I had left my bags in there).

When I got down to the front desk, I offered the key to the woman on the left, and she snidely said "what is this for". I said I was returning the key, and she challenged me and said "why, what is this all about?". I let her know I had changed rooms and said I was disappointed by the new room because it was on the corner, and she said "we are sold out and there is nothing I can do". That was total BS because it was about 4:30 and I knew a majority of people had not checked in yet, and they can always swap rooms as no one knows where they are headed until they check in.

IN ADDITION, why would she give me so much sh** when they say at check in "let us know if we can do anything". Maybe I was being a whiner, but I don't need attitude from the front desk. Last time I stay here!!! I had to run with my buddy or I would have asked to speak with the GM. Then when I headed back up to the room at 9 pm people were still checking in!

I also had a problem connecting to the Internet. I was on the phone with Tmobile for a long time and they told me to check with the hotel. You can imagine how excited I was to speak with the front desk, and I got to speak with Natalie. She was AWESOME, very friendly, and let me know my sign-in id would not work because the property had my middle initial in with my first name. She fixed it and I was able to log on.......she was so effective and pleasant I was pleasantly surprised.

I had breakfast at the hotel restaurant, Knuckles, in the morning. Service was EXCELLENT, and the food was awesome.....I had 3 pieces of french toast from the buffet.

1 two eggs sunny side up, sausage, wheat toast 14.00
1 juice 4.00
1 coffee 4.00
1 regular buffet 18.00

Total - $43.80

I also got to try the work out facility around 6 pm in the evening. It had very few free weights, and no weight machines, but 5 ellipticals, tread mills, and bikes. It was pretty empty, although my buddy said it was crowded at 6 am.

As for the room itself, its large and VERY QUIET.....but it has a really small closet, and no cups in the bathroom.

More to come

Go Go Inflight on AA, Chicago to San Fran - October 13

Rating - 9.54

There are coupons in the Admirals Club for free wireless Internet on certain AA flights......had it on the flight to SFO and it is really good (once you get connected).....super fast with no interference.

Only downside is this is the time I used to read books in the past....but a great way to stay caught up on a 4 hour flight!

Its usually $12.95 so I am not sure how often I will use it in the future.

What the heck, why not three times in the past week. My brother in law Pete had an interview at Morningstar and after I took him to lunch.

We arrived around 12:45 and were seated immediately.....it was not nearly as crowded as Friday. But the service was the same (exceptional), the chips as good as always, and the food even better. Once again I stuck with the Irish Dip and loved every bite, but this time I only ate 3/4 of it!!!! Small steps are victories for me......

I don't know what Pete had, but we had a great chat, excellent grub, and pleasant sites.

Best of all he paid!

Capri, Yorkville IL - October 10

Rating - 10.00 (I am on a streak of perfect "10s")

We finally found the new place that Andy, Mamma, and Papa opened down in Yorkville. It is exceptional space, large, light, airy, and decorated in an "Italian" decor. A bit hard to get to via the GPS in the car, but only 20 minutes from Farnsworth and I88.

This is the third Capri on this side of the family, the one in Naperville that I have blogged was owned by Andy's brother Joey and it may be closed. Andy was given a rough time on some of the blogs I read, but I have never had an issue with him, and his service is always excellent!

We walked in around 7:30 pm on a Saturday night and the hostess said there was a live band playing in the bar with tables, or we could sit in the dining room. We walked into the bar and it is really cozy. There was a three piece band playing and all the tables were full in there......and the hostess said it would be a 30 minute wait. So we decided to sit in the main room. There are probably 20 tables in here and we got a great one by the window. It was dark and hard to see outside but there is a patio with tables that overlooks a lake.

As soon as we sat Papa saw us. He came over to our table to greet us and insisted on giving us a tour. They have a second room that is next to the dining room and there was a large party of about 20 having dinner in there, and then he led us to the patio. He seemed to be genuinely happy that we had made the trip and even got Mamma from the kitchen (which is larger than his last place he told us). We also saw Andy, but he was busy waiting tables in the bar, and while he was friendly it was not quite like before with him.......

Unfortunately our waiter was pretty busy and it took a while for him to get our drink order. For the rest of the evening the service was slow (even later when the place emptied), but he was friendly and we could deal with it. There was a great crowd when we arrived and it did empty as time went on, by 8 pm it was maybe 1/2 full.

As soon as the food was delivered, we both smiled, and knew we had found our old friend. The bread served first was very good, the soup (me) and salad (Katie) were very good. But our DINNERS were EXCEPTIONAL!!!! I had the chicken parm (OUTSTANDING), and Katie's homemade rigatoni with mamma's vodka sauce was EVEN BETTER. Wow, what a great meal. We finished with two very small cannolis.

We then headed into the bar for a drink before driving home, and to listen to the band. The bartender was very friendly without being overbearing, and the Chocolate Martini was excellent (so reports Hot Mamma). The bar area stayed pretty full (there were probably 10 people sitting at the bar, and 6 tables of 2-4). The band was a family affair with Dad as the lead sax player who liked to do solos, but the crowded seemed to really enjoy. The bar crowd was interesting - a mix of couples who had finished dinner, some old ladies (really too old to be "Cougars") and a few young people. Drink prices were cheap!!

I believe that Andy always wanted to run a bar/nightclub.........Papa and Mamma had left around 9 pm....and it is a perfect spot for a drink before heading home.

When we left at 9:45 there was one table still in the dining room and around 15 in the bar.

Great spot, love the way the place looks, food is excellent, and prices are moderate. The one thing you can never beat at Capri is the service, it is top notch (even when slow)

Took the kids out on a Friday night and met up with two other families (6 adults and 10 kids) for dinner. We had a reservation for 6 pm and that was good because it was crowded. They have remodeled the place and it looks great, lots of flat screen tvs, and a comfortable/cozy decor. Looks like they have a decent bar on the other half of the place (the dinning room has its own little bar).

Service was great for such a large party on a busy Friday night and the beer and whine flowed.....while the kids spent a few million dollars tow quarters at a time in the "game room" - a space just off the dinning room where all the guys stood guard.

Pizza is excellent, crust is wonderful, and the beer cold and good (makes me want one now). Best of all is that after all the beer, wine, soft drinks, pizza, apps and taxes it was only$56.95 per family......what a GREAT VALUE.

Can't wait to return!!!!

Excellent spot for a Friday afternoon lunch.....but make sure you arrive early. We entered at 11:30 and were immediately seated. At about 11:45 there was a line out the door. Best thing about the place being packed is that the SERVICE is still OUTSTANDING, friendly, and the food arrived about 10 minutes after the order.

I had to "pay up" a Sox/Cubs bet (who would have more victories), and of course the Scrubs won a bunch of meaningless games at the end of another meaningless season for them. They SUCK!

Anyway, back to the Kilt. Stephanie took great care of us; got us a basket of the very tasty chips as soon as we sat, brought another basket after Kristian whined, delivered huge drinks that were quickly refilled, and served tasty food. Tim and I had my new favorite "Irish Dip" - it really is too big to eat the whole thing- and Krisitian had the pastrami sandwich that he really liked (although he did loose his Man Card with a side Caesar salad).

Very crowded when we left, but everyone was very happy!! I could eat here every day, but I would weigh a few thousand pounds.

2 Irish Dip $17.98
Traditional Pastrami Sand, add side Caesar $11.48
2 Arnold Palmer $5.00

Arrived with a buddy on a Wednesday afternoon around 11:30. We were immediately seated at a nice table and my friend was in shock at what a great spot this is for lunch. Lots of big screen tvs tuned to sports center and the best looking waitresses in the loop.

They now deliver an EXCELLENT basket of home made chips as soon as you sit and the service from Jazmin was excellent - quick with drinks and getting our order placed. We were both surprised how quick the food arrived.

I tried a new dish for the lunch, the IRISH DIP, and it is AWESOME, beef is perfectly cooked, cheese is melted and the dipping gravy is outstanding. Fries were a bit weak, but the sandwich is so large I shouldn't eat them anyway. Chris had the Big Arse Burger and he thought it was marginal at best (I feel the same way).

Great place for a casual lunch with an old friend. Friendly service and a great value for lunch.

Great lunch spot in the Loop, right next to the Chicago Theatre at State and Lake (SE corner). I met a customer here at 12:20 and we stepped right up to order.....its a deli that features hot sandwiches......ordered, stepped down and paid, got a drink, a seat and the food was ready.

Lunch was excellent, I had a the meatball special and it was really too large, but the bread and meatballs were SO GOOD that I couldn't stop eating it!! Tom had the egg salad and he finished every bit. Great value as drinks and chips were included.

We sat and talked for at least an hour and while it was busy, it was never too crazy and was comfortable to talk.

Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati OH - September 29

Rating - 9.984

Excellent place to watch a ball game....I think it is a Top 5 park. We bought a ticket on the street for $5 (that right 5 bucks-section 525, row A, seat 9) and sat where ever we wanted. Granted it is a Tuesday night and 60 degrees, but the Central Champs are in town - Cardinals, not the Scrubs (ha, ha) - with Pujols and the rest of their great line up.

Customers told us the obstructed view seats were $5, and we sat in front row of both sides of the bleachers, a few rows behind third base/first base lines. I would guess they had 10,000 in attendance. Bought a jumbo bag of nuts on the street for $4.

Had a brat which was EXCELLENT, and a $7.50 12 ounce beer from the concession stand which came in a bottle (no draft - tapers where there but not in use).

Wide concourses, lots of concessions and bathrooms, and really cool areas to stand and watch the game with great vantages and beer stands.

Excellent place to return and bring the kids!

Hyatt, Cincinnati OH - September 29

Rating - .73 and that is only because they get me in early

I arrived from the airport early in the morning (9 am) and stopped at the front desk to see if I could leave my bag. Ben was working and he was very friendly and helpful. My room was not ready, but he offered to take my bag and checked my in.

I returned after 2 hours and went to see if it was ready. It was not, but he put me in 1902 - a nice corner room, and I appreciated getting in early before lunch. Great customer service from Ben, and the valet guys were GREAT.

However, the carpet in the main lobby is being replaced and it was a mess. Nothing on the web site about that. Good thing they are replacing it, but the place is VERY dated and in need of a good make-over.

YIKES!! A few notes I made about what REALLY BOTHERS me about this property: Its OLD, no Regency Club (yeah, I got breakfast coupons but I like grabbing a juice, bagel, the paper and getting the day started in addition to grabbing some waters), crummy desk chair, a lamp that rattles on the desk as I type (and is so old I can tighten), HORRIBLE TV (no flat screen), and OLD wall paper that is peeling and has red marks on it, and there is NO digital thermostat - looks like a 1950s Holiday Inn (although a Holiday Inn may be more up to date).

Fitness center is ok for cardio - 3 treadmills, 3 ellipticals, 3 bikes........but that is it. No free weights or weight machines. And its small.....not Hyatt style.

Lobby is also strange tonight, they tore out all the carpet, put down 1 swath, but didn't vacuum it, it looks disgusting.

The room is pretty good size but very dated. Bathroom is ok, low level of lights.

Bad experience with breakfast. As mentioned there is no Regency Club so I went to their restaurant on the second floor. We were seated right away, and told the buffet included cooked to order pancakes, omlets, waffles. I ordered the waffles and we walked up to the buffet. It had a decent selection, but after getting back to the table the eggs were cold. Waitress said my "pancakes" would be up soon....but it took so long I had to leave for the airport.

I would not return to this property, and I am pretty sure the Westin down the street is in better shape.

Total - $159.00 per night***

***WAY TOO MUCH, $99 would be in the ball park.
