City Gate Grille, Naperville IL - November 21

Rating - 8.2

This is located where the old Riva was before....in the Calamos building on the NE corner of I88 and Rt 59.

They did do a slight make-over to the interior and it looks better than ever. We went in around 6:30 on a Saturday night without a reservation. Our favorite waiter from another restaurant is now here, so we sat in Pablo's section....make sure you ask for him!!!

We had a great time...the chef came out and introduced himself and made some recommendations. The bread they service is excellent and I had the soup of the day first (a tomato something it was great) while Katie had the seafood soup of the day (loved it). She then had the baby spinach salad (loved it) and for entrees I had the swordfish (exceptional) while she had the scallops (great). We also had an excellent bottle of Flowers Chard. After dinner we moved over to the bar.....

Where I finished the last glass of wine and Katie had a chocolate martini. Bar area is pretty much the same, and we have always enjoyed having a drink here even if we had dinner elsewhere.
