Homewood Suites, Clearwater FL - 4/29-5/1

Rating - 7.1

The property has to be older......showers are tub style and old.......rooms are small and air doesn't work real well........room 234 was at least quiet.

Dinners look good, keg of beer and bar-b-q on the grill (chicken and brats first night), sloppy joes tonight (yuck). They also provide a breakfast (had it today, not so great). However, Panera is right next store

Good value since room is $119.

Definitely a good value and not high end at all.

Rays vs. Red Sox.........lots of fun........seats were marginal at best.........

Section 215 "Press Level", Row B, Seat 16. On the third base side, $50 through ticket master. I would have bought them on the street (they only had maybe 20,000), but we had a customer.

Stub Hub was WAY MORE, and if I was going to buy tickets I would sit on the lower level. 70% Red Sox fans. Music was loud, but good.

The rating was primarily due to Josh (our server), he was awesome. Great personality, solid service, and I believed he really cared. He made the night because.....

The atmosphere is great, located on a deck overlooking the water, and they had a one man band who was great, and the prices were cheap, but.......

The FOOD was HORRIBLE.

Everything else made it worth it, if that makes any sense........

Michigan Avenue Immediate Care, Chicago IL - April 20

Rating - 10.0

I had a very sore throat and decided to stop in an urgent care center down in the loop. They are located at 104 S Michigan, Suite 905, 312-201-1234.

I arrived just after 8 am, completed the paperwork and was showed to a screening room. The nurse who saw me was friendly and efficient. I was seen shortly after by Dr. Batista.

Dr Batista had such a good "bedside" manner that I wish she were my primary care physician. She was EXCELLENT. Not only was I comfortable with her, she asked great questions and it seemed like she really did care about me. In addition, she took her time and was not rushed (maybe it helped I was only person there, but I doubt it).

Can not beat the service and overall experience here!

Alas, it was strep.

Rosebud Prime, Chicago IL - April 14

Rating 9.7

We arrived at 11:40 and found that my boss had made the reservation at the Rosebud located on Madison (just around the corner).

They promptly took our coats and seated us in the upstairs section. This has to be the premiere place for a business lunch in the east loop. It is a business crowd and I really like it because the atmosphere is conductive to having a business conversation at lunch - not too loud and not too quiet. Service was AWESOME.

The food today was excellent. I had the grouper sandwich special and it was excellent (I am still full), one had the Philly special (looked great) and the other had the Crab cake (looked ok, she didn't eat much).

They redeemed themselves, since our last experience was not so great.

Capri, Naperville IL - SO SAD

I heard the news last night that it had closed. It was my FAVORITE place to have dinner, and the service Andy and Joey provided made me feel like I was really special.

The last time we were in the place was packed, there was a wait to get in, but Andy and Joey were no where around. Momma and papa were there.

I guess it was too much space, and not enough cash flow.

I hope they again somewhere else.

You are missed!

Chef Amaury Epicurean Affair, Naperville, IL - April 11

8/17- Update - You decide what you think about this message I received, I gave them a high rating and enjoyed the cozy spot (by the way my name is MATT): Hi Mike,
First of all, I appreciate you and your group coming out to our restaurant. It’s always an honor to have both Steve and Hope come out as well as the rest of your group. As you can see, I constantly monitor what’s said about our restaurant. I take great pride in what we serve and how we serve it. I use the best ingredients that I can find and spend sometimes double if not triple the amount for ingredients in comparison to conventional. This is done because first of all the ingredients taste better, next, because we are supporting sustainable practices and in season, local farmers and vendors that are trying to make a living competing against giant farms where they do not care about how their products is handles as long as it’s produced cheaply. What I’m getting at is that you complained about the price you paid for a six course and all of that wine your group consumed. I always welcome feedback and will always explain why things are priced the way they are. Also, I do not appreciate the comment about “Chef was there and introduced the menu and thanked us for dining there (that was a great touch), but then I am not sure what he did. I don't think he cooked (the kitchen is open, its like eating in someones home), and our Chef's said the kids cooking had worked there for years. The Chef/owner also teaches at some local colleges.Service was very good (it should be with no one there), and his wife is one of the waitresses.”

Putting me down like that was not cool. I take great pride in training my staff. This is what a good chef does. “Not sure what he does”. Come on. Business was slow that day and that is why I greatly appreciated you and your group coming in. I can see by your post that Italian food is your thing. I appreciate a good Italian meal as well, but to compare what I do and my price points to cheaply produced Italian is not fair. Also, we pay almost $4.00 a bottle for that German beer that you liked . What do you suppose is a fair price? Also, my wines are priced at about 10-15.00 above retail. Did you research the price of wines before you commented about our pricing? Also, we are not going to take over the space at your beloved Capri. Thank god. We did not have anything to do with them moving. Looks like you were a little upset about them leaving and took it out on us. We are very sorry that they left and that you are left with a void for Italian food. I believe they moved to Yorkville, IL so you can still visit them. They were also planning to open another location in Warrenville, near the AMC theatres. I feel terrible that your experience wasn’t quite right. I tried to read in your review where we didn’t execute in delivering our food right but didn’t see it. This is what I do for a living. I love what I do and do not offer any excuses. Our regulars can testify that we do not overcharge for our food. A comparable meal at a Chicago restaurant would cost anywhere between $20.00-50.00 more. My food cost is at around 40% which is above the norm. I tried to read when your group left if they had a good or bad experience. I would welcome feedback from you or anyone in your group to make our place better. Thank you for reading this email. I can be reached at the restaurant at 630-375-0426 or of course you can just respond to this email. Thanks again. I tried to write a constructive email but apologize if it came out wrong. I am very passionate about what I do. I really hope to hear from you.

Sincerely,

It is hidden in a strip mall across from the Aurora Post Office (east of it). Very intimate, but when we went on a Friday night there were only 2 other couples there. We had a party of 6, and it would probably seat 20 at the most. I have driven by the place many times and never knew it was there. We went with our Chef neighbors who knew the chef. What is an Epicurean Affair????????????

It was pretty good although I did not like beer price of $10 per!!!!!!!

We had the six course meal for $65 each - first course was some little thing, second was some carrot soup/something else that was pretty good, third was halibut - which I LOVED, fourth was a steak (I didn't eat since it was Good Friday), fifth was cheese plate (very good) and last was desert (I had the chocolate explosion and it was little like at the trump, but very good).

Chef was there and introduced the menu and thanked us for dining there (that was a great touch), but then I am not sure what he did. I don't think he cooked (the kitchen is open, its like eating in someones home), and our Chef's said the kids cooking had worked there for years. The Chef/owner also teaches at some local colleges.

Service was very good (it should be with no one there), and his wife is one of the waitresses.

Katie would go back for sure, I think I would.

I heard the depressing news that my FAVORITE place closed (Capri) and Chef Amaury is thinking of taking that space. Won't work if he keeps his menu the same.

The ball park looks better than ever. Added a new "stats" scoreboard in right field, and a new scoreboard in center that shows replays in hi def.

Thome hits a 3 run homer in the 8th off Farnsworth and SOX WIN.

Beers were a lot more expensive, $7.50 from the vendor for a plastic Miller Lite bottle, nuts were $4 a bag (buy them outside the park).

We had two customers as our guests along with 3 from our company. Still a great place to host a business lunch, however this time the food was mediocre at best. In addition, the waiter was selling the $26 lunch special way too hard.

I had the bacon/cheddar burger medium, and it was way too OVERCOOKED. In fact, it was almost hard to eat. My partner had the same experience, while our third had the Philly and said it was just ok.

Still our customer appreciated it, and that is what its all about in the end.

Lunch for five was around $150 (I didn't pay the bill)

As usual they continued to have horrible customer service, crappy cars, and employees with horrible attitudes. In the first three cars we had, the seat belt for the child seat would not work. Finally got one that did, after at least 45 minutes, and they never bothered to put us in an upgraded car.

Good thing it was free for the week-still don't understand why I had to pay them - at least Hilton eats the tax bill.

Neat place located on the campus of Arizona State in Tempe. Located on the second floor of Mill and 5th (420 S Mill 480-736-0033), the main party spot on campus (at least it was 10 years ago). Excellent balcony, but we sat inside. We were in a hurry to get to the airport and they made sure we got out on time. It was a 5 minute drive to the airport.

Great service and good food. However, not like we remembered. Maybe on the weekend its better, but none of the stores in the little town were open.

The only thing that kept it from being a -10 was Willey the bartender at the happy hour - awesome personality and great drinks, and Juan the cook at breakfast.

Otherwise the PROPERTY IS A COMPLETE DUMP. I challenge any Hilton executive to stay in room 320 and have a comfortable visit. Beds = AWFUL, Bathroom = reeks of mold, interior of hallways = need to be blown-up.

Breakfast - Juan was great, but selection was small and its an awkward serving area.

This is the White Sox new spring training home. Located at 10710 W Camelback RD, at the 101 and Camelback. Bit of a drive off the 101, would be a mess during a big game.

Had to pay $5 to park in the desert and I AM STILL MAD ABOUT THAT!!!

We went on a Tuesday against CO, arrived in the top of the 1st and paid $10 for a $26 seat located in the FIRST ROW next to the Rockies dugout. GREAT SEATS.

I was told that the lawn was $8, so I told the scalper I wouldn't pay anymore. Good thing. You could have bought that ticket and sat anywhere. There were approx 2,000 in attendance. Great stadium with awesome site lines, bathrooms, and concessions. Only problem with the third base side is you are directly in the sun for the entire game. It was just too much sun for the kids, and we left in the 7th.

Stopped in the gift shop and bought a bunch of cool shirts. Definitely will go back again.

Everyone in Phoenix loves this place in the Valley, the hotel in Flag said we had to go. Got there around 7:30, told it was a 1/2 hour wait, and we must have waited 1 1/2 hours. At the end we couldn't leave because everyone was so hungry, and they were serving us beers in the waiting area. Beers for 3.89 is a GREAT DEAL.

I think the problem is its on NAU's campus, and everyone lingers over their beers. Thought we would never get seated. Once we were the food was ok, I had the pizza and it was pretty good, but we had to wait for that also. 5 beers will tend to kill the taste buds also, and it was around 9 when we got finished. This is a GREAT place to go, either as a couple or especially as a family. I forgot how much I liked it. We were there on a Sunday, and they had a lot of tables open, but not enough staff so we had to wait for 1/2 hour to get seated. They have a neat rattlesnake in a case that the kids loved and a two man band. We had a few drinks at the bar prior to dinner, so we had to work it off with a little dancing to the band. TONS OF FUN.

The food was marginal at best. Really limited menu, and the "special" of the filet was not real good. I had the porterhouse and it was just ok. Sides were awful - corn was soggy and baked potato was not good.
