LGA Terminal 3 - Manny's Hot Dog Stand by Gate 8

Rating - 10.0

He is located at the end of the terminal across from Gate 8.

This is the best hot dog in all of NYC and Manny is an awesome to sit and talk with while delayed.

Total - priceless and worth it (I don't know how much it is, I always leave him $10)

Cant get any worse than that..........when flying AA out of LGA in the afternoon its like Russian Roulette........you never know what flight will get cancelled. Its either the noon, 1 pm or 2 pm flight.

then you get re booked at some point later in the day, and in seat 31a.

It really sucks on Friday afternoon.

Grand Hyatt, New York NY - May 29

Rating - 8.2

So I called ahead this time to the front office to request my favorite room and a very nice guy explained to me that both of favorites were occupied. He suggested I contact them a few days before I arrive since they get the room feed from Hyatt on arrival morning. Made sense to me.

I asked him to put me in a quiet room, and he assured me I had one. Not the case, 3112 must be located above some truck dock, it was VERY noisy at night and the room is really small. No surprise from the Hyatt family!

When I returned to the room this afternoon, I called the front desk and asked if one of my favorites was free. It was, so I went down to the front desk, got the new keys and moved my stuff.

I am much happier now!!!

They did grant a 12:30 check out.

Roberto Passon, 741 9th Ave, New York NY - May 28

Rating - 7.0

We were walking down 9th and saw this neat little place with floor to ceiling windows, not knowing anything about the place we walked in and sat down. It took the waiter a very long time to come take a drink order (waiter 9), and his service got WORSE as the night went along.

When he gave us the menus he said there were no specials, it was the first night of a new menu so everything was a special.

Bread served before dinner was horrible, way too over cooked.

App was excellent (carpaccio) and the entrees were all just ok, with the exception of the Rigatoni with spicy sauce that was fantastic.

Wine was good, but again the service was BRUTAL. I would go back for the Rigatoni, wish it was my dinner.

This is a great spot in down town Aurora, located on the East side of the Riverboat. Plenty of parking in the back.

We went with the neighbors on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Arrived around 6:30 and the place was pretty dead. Few families eating up front, and no one really in the bar. We sat at a long table inside. They do have outside seating, but the patio is not that nice.

Food was excellent, and there was more than you could finish.

Safeco Field, Seattle WA - May 20th

Rating - 7.0

It did not exceed my expectations, I had such high expectations. There are many parks that are significantly better: San Fran, Pittsburgh, Rangers, The Cell, Fenway. I did like how all the seats face home plate, but the sun was a bit of a problem.

We bought tickets from a scalper right after the game had started. Paid $20 per for three, and the face value was $32. We got hosed. You could buy the cheapest ticket and sit where ever you like. Sat in Section 115, Row 16, Seat 1.

Food was pretty good (dog) for the ball park, but all the micro brews were expensive ($9.50 I believe).

Fans were only semi interested in the game, they were more into the boat race on the screen between innings.

We left in the 6th inning because one had a tee shirt on, and it got COLD when the sun went down.

Worth a visit, but buy tickets at the box office.

Elaia Spa, Seattle WA - May 21

Rating - 8.0 (treatment is a 9.75, facility is 5.0)

The treatment was fabulous......just the right pressure and technique was great. I would come back for sure.

The spa itself was just ok. The mens lockers are not full size, the steam room is not operational, and the pool/whirlpool is co-ed.....not that good of an idea since no one brings a swim suite. Nothing special about the space, it feels like you are in a hotel.

As for the hotel, don't waste your time there, go to the Grand Hyatt.

Hyatt at Olive 8, Seattle WA - May 20

Rating - 3.2

Don't stay here, stay at the Grand Hyatt that is located very close. Only benefit to staying is that you get a discount at the spa. Its Hyatt's brand new "green" hotel and they are very proud of it.....but they need to get a new management staff on board.

I am so sick of being a Diamond member and getting a crummy room (room 1645). I asked the girl who helped me check in if this was the best free room they had and she said "yes". However, after I went to the room to drop my bags I knew it was not. On the way down I asked if the corner rooms were free, she said "yes" again, and I asked if I could get one. She said she would have to check with the manager, but I was late for the ball game and headed out. I would have expected to have a message from her when I returned, but no.

In addition, the walls are not that solid, I could hear the goofs next to me.

They do have a very nice spa, but that is another post.

In summary, stay at the Grand Hyatt, at least they will put you in a great room.

should have been rated a ten for the beer selection, great bar food, and very low prices, but the service blew.

Nice bar, located a flight of stairs down from street level. The beer selection is HUGE, a whole wall full of tappers, and we were there for the "reverse" happy hour. Bar was too full to fit three, so we sat at a table.

The bar food is exceptional, but the SERVICE was absolutely HORRIBLE by Brad. Don't ever ask to sit in his section.

Best pizza in the world - well at least that I have had. We stopped in after an appointment, and not only was the pizza unbelievable, everyone who worked there was incredibly friendly.

Got to sit outside on the deck and eat the two huge slices we each got. I will never forget the meatball slice I had, it was so good I wanted to trade in the peperoni one I had, but I am glad I didn't.

The most amazing thing was there was no grease.

They also had a really cool recycling system, where each component went in a different bin, and then there was one small can labeled "land fill".

GO HERE.

The Nines, Portland OR - May 19

Rating - .2 (and that is only because the gym is GREAT)

DON'T STAY HERE EVER, sleep in a park in the rain if its your only option.

So, that trip was a couple of weeks ago and I am still MAD about the way I was treated at check in and the experience was so bad it reminded me of staying at the Grand Hyatt in San Fran.

I had a 6 am flight to Philly for an early morning appointment, and then had to fly back through Chicago to Seattle and then drive down to Portland. DON'T EVER do that, fly direct to Portland or catch a connection through Seattle. Needless to say I was beat by the time I arrive.

Our new business booking site had this property rated the best for Portland. It is a very neat art deco motif, but the service at check in SUCKED. The clerk was just a b**** and when I asked if they had a high quiet room, she looked at the computer, gave me a smile that said to f*** off, and said that was the best they could do. Probably the worst service I have ever had, ever.

I went to the room and the street noise was so loud I called the "guest assist" line. I was told I would be connected to the front desk, but it took so long I hung up and walked back to the front desk and asked a different clerk if there was a different room anywhere else in the hotel - I didn't care if it had a king or not. They moved me up one floor, and it was a bit better. Just the way the whole thing was handled was terrible, and all the had to do was say "I am sorry". But no one did.

I did use the fitness center the next day, it was nice but no free weights.

The doormen were great and gave great directions.

Best thing about the place was LEAVING. I would sleep in the car if the choice was that or the Nines again. I usually stay at the Hilton but it was sold out.

Total - $222.00 for the night.

The Waldorf = Austoria, New York NY - May 12

Rating 9.31

This Grand Old hotel is showing its age, but the service was great, and Hilton put me in an excellent/quite room (1237).

Jennifer at check in started my trip off on the right note with exceptional, above and beyond friendly service, and got in me at 10:48 am since I arrived early.

Room was decent size, and was quiet, but had horrible pressure in the shower.

The work out facility was very nice, and they have a small free weight section and all the newest cardio machines.

I loved that almost all the men were in business suites and the ladies were quite dressed up also. Sitting in the lobby was great fun as the people watching is awesome.

The location is great for going to see customers.

Only downside is that it is showing its age - its dated, carpets are worn, wall paper is way past its age, and there is a dinge to it all.

But the energy in the place from everyone there is exciting and the exercise room is very important.

Give it a try..........

Strange thing happened on Saturday night when my wife forgot to make a reservation, while waiting for the sitter I called the restaurant at 6:30. I was told they didn't have any tables available until 8:30. When the sitter arrived, we got in the car and drove over anyway (its only 5 minutes). Not only were we seated immediately, the place was maybe 1/4 full. In fact after dinner we had a few drinks at the bar and the place was never more than 75% full. Maybe they think its best to give the appearance that they are really full?????

We did not get our favorite waitress Connie, she is GREAT and you should ask for her, but instead got Jaime. Her speciality is NOT the wine list. We ordered a horrible bottle from the reserve list, Sanford Chard, that goes for $11 in the store, and $56 at Riva.

However, they do have a new Chef, and the food was EXCELLENT!!! Best of all we got a 25% discount on the entire bill, because on the door of the closed Capri there is a small sign that says ask for a discount at Riva. Service was fair at best.

Grand Hyatt, San Francisco - May 4

Rating - 6.2 - each time I think about the service here I want to lower, but desk service, club service and Amy's service keeps it here

Why do I keep pounding my head against the wall and staying here? The customer experience SUCKS. Last stay earlier this year was ok, but last fall was a disaster. I do like the location and the gym, but I am changing next time....the St Regis is close.

Only good part of check-in was that Alex Lane, the Room Executive checked me in and was very professional and had the courtesy to walk out from behind the desk, shake my hand and offer me his card......that counts for BIG POINTS.

Unfortunately, I am in a handicap room. They can never get my room preference here, and as a Diamond member at Hyatt they consistently underwhelm my expectations.

The service was EXCELLENT in the club room from David for breakfast, and the rate of $137.81(including taxes) helped keep the overall rating over a 6.

However, when I returned and stared to do my expense report, I noticed I was charged for internet usage for $9.99. Hyatt recently changed their "Diamond Status" to include it for free and upgrade to the best room available. The San Fran Hyatt failed miserably at each. So, on 5/6 I sent an email to Amy who was listed on the folio. She replied on 5/7:
Dr. Wolniewicz, Thank you for choosing the Grand Hyatt on Union Square for your recent visit to San Francisco! I checked your account and found there was an additional wireless internet charge, which I adjusted and credit $9.99 back to your American Express. I have sent you a copy of the updated statement. I do apologize for any inconvenience this caused. Please feel free to contact me if there is anything else I may assist you with. Located at 584 S Randall Rd, 630-513-8800. Server was Eric.

We went for dinner during Bulls game 7/Hawks game 3 with a party of approximately 1,000 kids and 8 adults. When we arrived at 5:45 pm it was not that crowded, but when we left at 8 pm it was rocking and there was wait for tables. That is hard to believe because the place is HUGE.....it was a great atmosphere to watch the two Chicago Teams play.

However, it is tough to control the little guys because the place is so big, and SO LOUD. There is a game area, but almost every game is .75 -1.50, so the $10 bucks per kid goes fast. In addition, the little guy liked to go upstairs and run around the perimeter of the place.....had to chase him all night!

Food was/is marginal/better than average. It was really great that they could keep up with the demand with that many people there......service from Eric was marginal....had to go to the bar at least once to get refills on drinks.
